Dear Mr. Heuer and Staff of the FGO,
Thank you for mailing us the card for renewing our four subscriptions.
We regret to inform you that we WILL NOT be renewing our subscriptions
at this time.
We are very saddened to have heard the news that the current ensemble and principals in the pit of this very fine group of players that have played for the FGO during the past few seasons is not guaranteed to be the same group of musicians next season.
At this time, with the current situation, it is not worth our investment of money, gas, and time as well as the investment of time for our guests to support the FGO MINUS this fine ensemble of dedicated opera orchestra musicians. We have always supported to have growth and improvement for this orchestra and have seen such with some wonderful productions that have taken place with the opening of the new center, a pride for Miami over these past few years.
We can understand that removing certain agreements with a current contractor may be a step forward towards future stability; HOWEVER, removing the whole group and principals seems to be a very shaky investment on behalf of
the quality and stability of the company, and one which we and our local, national, and international friends would be embarrassed to support. We would also be embarrassed to bring our guests from out-of-town (many who are patrons of the arts from San Francisco Opera, the MET, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, Montreal,
Vancouver, Toronto, and New York) to go to see an opera that does not have its current resident orchestra.
Again, we are very saddened by all of this as many of our friends are.
IF there is a change in plans or if we are mis-informed PLEASE do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you.
JOSE LOPEZ and Laura Wilcox
